General Donations

General donations provide a valuable core support that we can use at our discretion for a multitude of purposes. It is our practice to set retreat fees at an adequate level to meet our regular, ongoing budgetary needs and through sensible stewardship we have been consistently successful in doing so. However, it is helpful for us to know that we have this pool of resources to draw on to maintain the ongoing activities of running the retreat center and offering retreats. They are available to provide an emergency fund - in the worst-case scenario, which so far has never happened - or to set aside to finance special projects.

In the past, general donations have made it possible for us to initiate projects including providing comfortable, new furniture for our sitting room; putting a memory-foam mattress on every bed; helping to fund the expansion and improvements we made to the meditation hall several years ago; and creating a new parking area on the periphery of the property to remove parked cars from the middle of the retreat center. Currently the pool of general donations is earmarked toward our purchase of seven acres of forestland adjacent to the retreat center.
