RETREAT DESCRIPTION

There is an African Proverb that says: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Together, we are stronger and more resilient and can support one another to go a little bit further on the path towards Awakening. This retreat is about just that; supporting each other to strengthen our meditation practice. We will integrate the wisdom practice of the four foundations of mindfulness and the heart practice of the Compassion to cultivate connection, inner strength, and deep stillness.

The retreat will include periods of sitting and walking meditation, chanting, and mindful movement. In addition to daily dhamma talks, there will be opportunities for dialogue with the teacher as well as small group practice meetings.

This retreat is specifically for people who self-identify as Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color.

The 2 day option will enable those with no meditation practice to learn meditation techniques and experience the support of a weekend retreat. This option has no experience requirements and beginners are welcome.   The 2 day option begins Friday evening and ends Sunday, and has a $210 fixed fee.   —- The 2-day option is now waitlisted —-

The 5 day option will enable those with experience to continue on for a longer, fuller retreat.   The 5 day option also begins Friday evening and continues to Wednesday.  This option is offered on a tiered scale:  $690/$525/$440

Experience prerequisite:  For the full, 5-day option, successful completion of at least one 4-day residential, silent Buddhist meditation retreat is required.

Special scholarship funds have been provided by a generous donor specifically to support Black women from Oregon. If you apply for financial assistance, please let us know if this applies to you!

Please consider attending this retreat only if your current life circumstances allow you to engage in an important modern renunciation practice of staying offline and off phone/text during the entire course of the retreat (some exceptions related to pressing family situations may be granted.)
