RETREAT DESCRIPTION
This retreat explores the natural integration of body awareness and insight meditation through the four foundations of mindfulness (satipatthāna). We’ll work with traditional vipassana practice while bringing special attention to how awareness manifests through our embodied experience – investigating impermanence, suffering, and not-self as they arise in breath, sensation, and movement.
Daily sitting and walking meditation will be complemented by periods of mindful movement to support embodied presence. Through dharma talks and practice guidance, we’ll explore how insight naturally deepens when we meet experience with relaxed attention and curiosity. The retreat will be held in noble silence, with opportunities for group and one-on-one practice interviews.
Experience prerequisite: This retreat is suitable for practitioners who have completed at least one 6-day silent residential Buddhist meditation retreat and are familiar with vipassana or insight meditation practices.
Partial attendance is not offered on this retreat. Additionally, please consider attending this retreat only if your current life circumstances allow you to engage in an important modern renunciation practice of staying offline and off phone/text during the entire course of the retreat (some exceptions related to pressing family situations may be granted.)
