RETREAT DESCRIPTION

The ‘Sound of Silence’ is an ever present quality that we can learn to recognize and attune to. Although we refer to it as a ‘Sound of Silence’, it may be perceived as vibration, as luminosity or a high-pitched sound. By sensing into this quality via any of these three channels, we can discover the mind’s innate capacity to settle and open.

We will be exploring different ways that this practice can be experienced, allowing our systems to take a break from chronic overstimulation by resting into the silence behind the noise.

Our practice will be held in Noble Silence, with periods of guided meditation, and times of silent practice. There will be daily Dharma reflections, and some opportunity for Q&A. The framework for the retreat will also include chanting, and simple Buddhist ritual. This retreat is suitable for both beginning and experienced students.

Partial attendance is not offered on this retreat. Additionally, please consider attending this retreat only if your current life circumstances allow you to engage in an important modern renunciation practice of staying offline and off phone/text during the entire course of the retreat (some exceptions related to pressing family situations may be granted.)
