RETREAT DESCRIPTION

Vipassana, or Insight Meditation, is the art of coming to know the body and heart directly and deeply. The practice of attending to our moment-to-moment experience with growing interest, acceptance and care cultivates a deepening awareness and creates the possibility of true intimacy with and understanding of ourselves, others and all of life. Here, we can discover joy, healing and an ever-growing compassion and wisdom. Increasingly, we access and rest into a natural steadiness, clarity and ease that informs all aspects of how we live and respond to life’s experiences.

Grounded firmly in the teachings of the Buddha, well preserved in the Theravadin tradition, vipassana meditation is a direct and reliable path to natural, profound peace and freedom.

This 5-day retreat will include periods of sitting, standing and walking meditation and will be held in noble silence. Practice guidance will be given through daily instructions, Dhamma talks, Q&A sessions and practice discussions in small groups. Individual practice discussions with the teacher may also be available. Instruction in lovingkindness meditation will be woven into the retreat as a complement to the vipassana practice.

The retreat is suitable for those new to meditation and experienced practitioners. All are welcome.
